Bored and Hungry guests! Request: Movie please! :)

Ahhh triple good Pumpkin Soup!

Unbelievably good Greek Salads. It was so addicting.

Roast Chicken, Pilaf (?) with Sausages, Penne Al Pesto - ALL GOOD!!!

We forgot to ask what is this called but it's like Dorado Gratin and it was fantastic!

To sum it up, the function was a success despite the sudden alarm that interrupted the lovely dinner. I am very sorry for the poor resolution! The venue was dimly-lit and my iPod's camera has no flash! :p

Eat Out #1

Chinese
Su Zhou Dimsum, A. Mabini Street, Manila

We've been dining here ever since. This resto started small, almost like a residence with dining open for public. This Chinese resto is not your typical Siomai-serving-faux-Chinese. Homey -- ergo really authentic. The food items that they serve here are like sub-Chinese cuisine dishes that are unique from one specific region. Every entry is on reasonable price. Their Dimsum is superb but yesterday, I just had to try something different.

Fried Noodles with Beef
Php 145.00

Really good. The noodles were cooked just right. The sauce clings perfectly. Right proportion of meat and veggies. I'm speechless.

Spring Onion Pancake
Php 90.00

This is one of their bestsellers. It was really good. I was like eating pizza made of scrambled egg flatten to crepe-like perfection. Not oily. But still, it made me dizzy. Because I know it was cooked in a large amount of oil. Physio-hits.

"Special Sauce"
Complimentary

This is their special dipping sauce that goes well with everything. They won't tell ingredients so most likely I have to describe its taste. It's sour, salty and gingery. It almost tasted like a local alcoholic drink. But it's RIDICULOUSLY good. Especially with the pancake because it "cuts" the fried feel of the pancake.

Pasta #1

Pasta
Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon and Pear Ham

Your good old Macaroni and
Cheese with REAL cheeses, bacon, ham, milk and some herbs. It's a little bit modified. And they (family/critics) loved it!

Pastries and Breads #1

Pastries and Breads
Vanilla Babycakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

My baby cousin Naelan loves to eat pastries! Last Sunday night, I was reading a certain book. He came to me,  pointed to the picture above and started to baby-talk. I translated his bizarre language to: ME WANT CUPCAKE! Sooo... I made him cupcakes! Mini cupcakes to be exact. Very basic vanilla cupcake topped with Cream Cheese Frosting: Cream Cheese + Icing Sugar + Food Color + Lemon Juice + MONSTER MIXER = Yummy Cream Cheese Frosting! And it's pink! I forgot to take a picture of my version so I just took these snapshots from the book that I was talking about. The Frosting was so good, Naelan had to go poo-poo for like six times that night. So much for being Lactose Intolerant.

Main Entree #1

Main Entree
Bistek Tagalog
*Good as is or with steamed rice

This dish is very familiar to every Filipino household dining table. Of course, paired with rice. It is basically Top Round Beef marinated in Soy Sauce, Calamansi and Black Pepper. In our house, we pan-fry the meat in butter first. Then re-use the fat to sautee lots of garlic. Where will the marinade go? Not in the trash can of course! That will make the dish very scrumptious. Leave the pan on heat, adding more water until the meat is tender. In a separate pan, deep-fry the potatoes and the white onions. Top everything on the meat and serve! I prefer my Bistek to swim in deep Calamansi juice. It's just, heavenly.

Hors D'oeuvres #1

Hors D'oeuvres
Baby Potatoes with Sour Cream and Bacon Bits
*Good as a snack, party food or starch for a full-course dinner

It is easy to make. Boil, season, bake, top and serve. But there is one part that is difficult: cutting a cross and making a baby potato pop. See the third picture on the second row? Those are my ruined baby potatoes. So I just decided to cut a deep cube on each baby potato. Why do I have to make a crater? To produce a generous amount of Sour Cream. My critics (my family) said that it was really good. The sourness of the Sour Cream complimented the saltiness of the Bacon while it's richness complimented the crispiness of the Bacon.
